Position: Communications & Development Director
Susan Licate has over 20 years of business management and strategic marketing experience, providing public relations, event marketing, communications, copy writing and advertising solutions to clients of all industries.
Susan’s work in communications and publicity has helped institutions become recognized and, where retained for growth and development, make a mark on positioning for the greater good.
She has worked with and provided marketing solutions for higher education institutions, professional service firms, healthcare systems and nonprofit organizations in Northeastern Ohio as well working in various capacities for highly visible national events including the World Doctors Orchestra, the World Beer Festival, Case Western Reserve University’s Visual Science Research Symposium, and the regional publicity for several Universal Studios film premiers. She has also worked on regional themed events as well as local cause-marketing fundraisers.
Susan managed the regional publicity for appearances on behalf of Robert Ballard, founder of the Titanic; Fox News analyst Stuart Varney; NFL icon “Rudy” Ruettiger; CIA specialist David Martine, and Retired Green Beret and award-winning author S.B. Newman.
Additionally, Susan serves as an adjunct instructor in the Business Management division of Lakeland Community College and is a frequent guest speaker and presenter in the region. She is a blog author and article contributor, providing industry white-papers and research-driven articles for targeted audiences.
Susan earned an MBA and BA (advertising design), both from Lake Erie College. She is a recognized mediator by the State of Ohio Supreme Court, an outreach of her passion for communications, and is certified in ISO and ALICE crisis communications training. Susan also earned her certificate in Strategic Marketing from Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management.
An active community member, she is a leader with the Girl Scouts of Northeastern Ohio, serves on the National Editorial Board for Thomson Reuters, is a trustee for the Mentor Public Schools Foundation Board, and is a past member of the Lake County Small Business Development Council, the Lake and Ashtabula Counties Affiliates (Board of Realtors) Coordination Team, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and Neighboring-Lake County.
