Being organized and staying that way is difficult for some people and easy for others, but the benefits of being organized are countless.
At the Lake Communicators luncheon Wednesday, March 14, Marge Hogan Mackey,
president of Hogan Organized Living, will teach effective strategies and methods for staying organized.
Hogan Organized Living is a full-service professional organizing firm serving businesses and individuals in Northeast Ohio and beyond. The firm helps clients get a handle on things at the office or the home by physically organizing “stuff” and teaches useful methods for controlling clutter.
“I’m fully dedicated to helping clients lead better
|
|
lives through organization,” Mackey said. “It’s amazing how much more a person can accomplish when their desk and home are free of clutter.”
Mackey has applied her natural talent for organizing daily during her 30-year career with Fortune 500 companies and small businesses. She has supervised training and development at United Airlines; organized an engineering department at Rockwell Automation; and owned a women’s retail clothing shop.
The luncheon will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Comfort Inn & Conference Center, 7701 Reynolds Road, Mentor. Make reservations by March 9 by calling Diana Lewis at 440-255-8932 or e-mailing wolfeshirley@yahoo.com.
Guests are always welcome. Cost is $13 for members and $15 for nonmembers. |

| Lake Communicators sponsors first seminar |
The Feb. 1 Marketing Communications Workshop & Luncheon was a huge success. Almost 90 people attended the seminar. Of those people, more than half expressed interest in finding out more information about Lake Communicators, the intent of which was to raise awareness of the organization.
Lake Communicators would like to thank speakers Judy Cerne, McKinney Advertising & PR; Tracy Smuts, Capstone Media; and Jeff Friedman, Webtego; as well as the Special Events & Programming committees for all their hard work on this event. Save the date - the 2008 event will be held March 12!

| Board meeting minutes - Feb 9 |
President’s Remarks: D. Fraser gave kudos to the special events committee, saying it was an outstanding event for the organization and that it accomplished our goals and then some.
Treasurer Report: K. Purmal is putting together a draft of this year’s budget. She passed out a profit and loss statement for the end of 2006. She said she was proud of the way the Apex committee held the line on expenses. We ended the year with $10,283 in checking account.
Committee Reports
Lake County Apex Awards: Held a follow-up meeting. J. Green will be the chair again.
Programs & Meetings: J. Venen reported a good first committee meeting. The committee has set a tentative schedule through June of next year and discussed the importance of having topics relevant to us as communicators. Ideas for future meetings include branding, improving online communications and a speed networking event. The group is considering a panel event for next year. D. Lewis will continue to get the trophies for the speakers. *Reminder: no more April or August breakfast meetings; no meeting in July.
Membership: Lake Communicators now has 63 members; we are still waiting for responses and expect a few new members.
Marketing & Promotions: The committee is working on surveys from the seminar, sending |
|
out thank-yous to attendees and speakers. J. Cerne said a quick look at the surveys showed people wished they had time for networking or that we would have let everyone say their names as they wanted to know who was in the room.
Internal Communications: New signs directing people to the meetings are being redesigned with this year’s new theme.
Scholarship: K. Purmal sent letters and applications to 14 high schools. She still is looking for volunteers to help evaluate the responses. We gave away three $500 scholarships last year.
Old Business
2007 Budget: If you have special requests for your budget, get them in now.
County Emergency Program: T. Ruffner will act as board liason for Lake Communicators’ first community service project co-chaired by J. Baginski and R. Somich. The committee wants to make it fun with a workshop, lunch and a tour of the Lake County Emergency Operations Center. The project proposal may be available for the May meeting. The committee is looking to see what grants are available.
Directory: The cost would be about $673 if we print 100 copies. S. Wolfe and T. Ruffner are working on collecting updated bios and photos. Ask Shirley to send out message to make sure everyone is getting her e-mails. |
