Happy New Year Lake Communicators! Get your thoughts ready for the January lunch meeting. It’s all about Lake Communicators.

It will be a planning meeting, no speaker, just a great lunch and lots of discussion. We’ll be looking for input from you. Members may sign up for committees from Programs to PR to Special Events. All of the committees and their functions will be explained. We need everyone who can spend the time to volunteer for committees.

The following issues will be discussed at the January Board meeting: Changing the day of the board meetings; NOCA representative(s); e-mail communications; newsletter printing; the budget; the February seminar and more.

Let’s start the year off with a good spirit of service to the club. This is the time to truly network and work side by side with your fellow club members and help our club grow. Use your expertise to help make us shine. Let’s make 2007 the best year ever.

Stay out of the shadow of past marketing mistakes

Marketing any product or service is tough, but knowing which media outlets to use, the best message strategies and most effective tactics brings a company out of the shadow of competitors and into the light of success.

By participating in the Lake Communicators Marketing Communications Workshop and Luncheon Feb. 1, companies can fill their new year with growth opportunities.

Open to anyone interested in sharpening their marketing skills, the half-day workshop will provide participants with the insight needed to make a marketing communications program more successful and cost-effective through 2007 and beyond.

“The February marketing workshop is the first of many we plan to host in order to provide businesses, large and small, with ideas and know-how to optimize their marketing communications program,” said Richard Fraser, new Lake Communicators president.

The workshop is focused on keys for success in three fundamental areas of marketing

communications including learning the 10 commandments of successful advertising,
maximizing the effectiveness of a media budget and making your Web site work to increase your bottom line.

As experts in their fields Judy Cerne, president & CEO, McKinney Advertising & Public Relations; Tracy Smuts, president, Capstone Media; and Jeff Friedman, chief relationship officer, Webtego, will give participants advice on developing successful marketing communications programs that advance business goals and provide a return on investment.

“Increasing the bottom-line is where every marketer wants to succeed,” said Kathie Pohl, Lake Communicators member. “Our workshop will give marketers in Northeast Ohio the ability to achieve their marketing goals for the New Year.”

For more information or to register, visit www.lakecommunicators.com. Cost of the luncheon and workshop is $35, the value of participating is priceless. Registration is required by Jan. 23.

We would like to get more members involved in the organization other than the board members. Thank you to McKinney Advertising for all of the work they put into the club this past year. We would like to formulate a bylaw review committee. We would also like to have a written report from each committee chair to be brought to each board meeting. And last but not least, welcome to Laura and John!”
